How can you get noticed and make money with out using your web page to get noticed. What is the next best way?

For me I was a stranger to Mobile being a transplant with no friends or family here. I was invisible to the public, and had to get noticed fast. I had no sphere of influence to speak of when I started Real Estate.
Fortunately for me I am out going and a people person. I thought of myself as a politician running for office and running a campaign. So I started by talking. I eat sleep and live Real Estate. I strike up a conversation with anyone and everyone around me where ever I am. Grocery store, Drug store Gas Station Office supply stores. Anywhere and every where I am I always give a smile and a hardy hello to anyone that makes eye contact.
If a conversation starts I always mention Real Estate. I press the flesh hand shaking and greeting everyone. My brokerage also has access to a cable TV channel that we use to run low coast power point slide advertisements. I run a personal advertisement from time to time. That really puts my face out there. I have never used a magnetic sign on my vehicle.
I also create my own tri fold pamphlets and mail them. I don't send out hundreds. I only send out a small targeted amount of about 25 to a particular street in the areas I choose to farm. After enough time as passed for the mail to arrive. I walk the street I have mailed. I greet those I see out side. Sometimes I may know about every 3rd door and introduce myself.
I go a CMA request that resulted form one of my mailings. My pamphlets have my web sites all over them. Plus contact info. I capture contact information from those I build a report with. We also have a small high tech kiosk in a large mall here. I also gives lots of exposure to the general public. It is a information resource. The shoppers pass by and view I monitors and some stop in with real estate inquiries. At the very least my face is out there.
For female agents walking neighborhoods should always be done in a buddy system. Never go alone. Always have something to protect with. keys in hand , mace or some form of protection other than a fire arm.
Join organizations and civic groups, get active in your local board. Do community service with organizations. Get to know the civil servants in your area. Get involved in church functions and any other thing you can think of. While you are doing those things always bring up Real Estate in a subtle way. Not being pushy but keeping front mind awareness that you are in the business. After time you will begin to get noticed. As more time goes by you will begin to experience the heart of getting business. Getting referrals from all the people you have met and past clients.
News paper ads have never given me much pay back for my buck. Talking to people has been most effective. Also TV promotion.
